How to Read Japanese Golf Course Pricing

Start with the total, not only the play fee

プレー料金 means play fee, but it may not tell the whole story. 総額 is usually closer to the displayed per-person total for the selected plan. Even then, optional rentals, meal upgrades, locker fees, small-group surcharges, and transport are often outside that number.

When comparing plans, write down the final expected per-person cost, not only the headline play fee.

Tax wording

税込 means consumption tax is included. 税別 means tax is not included and may be added later. Golf course utilization tax, written as ゴルフ場利用税 or 利用税, may also appear as a separate item.

This is why two prices that look similar at first can produce different checkout totals.

Lunch wording

昼食付き or 昼食付 means a basic lunch benefit is included. It does not always mean every restaurant item is free. Many courses include a lunch allowance or a standard menu; premium dishes may require a supplement.

昼食別 means lunch is not included. Early-morning, through-play, twilight, and night-golf plans are more likely to exclude a meal.

Small-group surcharges

2サム割増 or 2B割増 means a two-player group may pay an additional per-person charge. 3B割増 means a three-player group may pay an additional charge. 割増なし means the specified surcharge is waived.

Do not confuse 2サム保証 with no surcharge. A plan can guarantee a private twosome and still charge a two-player supplement.
