How to Ship Golf Clubs in Japan
Use Japan's domestic delivery services to move a golf bag between airports, hotels, courses, and your next destination.

Why golfers use delivery services
Japan's trains and stations are efficient, but moving a large travel cover through crowded platforms, stairs, small taxis, and hotel rooms can be awkward. Domestic golf-bag delivery can be easier when the trip includes several cities or a rail journey.
Common delivery routes include:
- Airport or hotel to a golf course
- Hotel to a golf course and back to the same hotel
- One golf course to the next course
- Golf course to an airport, hotel, or final destination
Confirm that the course can receive the bag
Contact the course before shipping. Confirm the delivery address, telephone number, preferred arrival date, storage procedure, and the name under which the bag should be held.
The reservation name, play date, and tee time should be written clearly on the shipping form. A course may receive many bags on the same day, so writing only an English name can create confusion.
Send it early enough
Delivery time varies by origin, destination, island, weather, and service counter. Do not assume next-day delivery is available everywhere.
Allow additional time for Hokkaido, Okinawa, remote islands, mountain resorts, holiday periods, heavy snow, typhoons, or airport handling. Ask the delivery counter for the required acceptance deadline rather than relying on a general rule.
Protect the golf bag
A golf-bag cover may be required or strongly recommended. Secure loose straps, remove valuables, and protect club heads. Do not place passports, cash, medication, electronics, or irreplaceable items inside the shipped bag.
Check the carrier's size, weight, prohibited-item, compensation, and packaging rules before sending.
Fill in the shipping form
Prepare:
- Golf course name in Japanese
- Full Japanese address and telephone number
- Your reservation name
- Play date and tee time
- Hotel or sender details
- Requested delivery date
- Return or onward destination if arranging round-trip delivery
Keep the receipt and tracking number until the bag has been collected.
Collecting the bag at the course
Ask reception or the bag-handling area where delivered bags are stored. Check the bag tag and count the clubs before play.
If rental clubs are your backup plan, confirm their availability before the trip. A late bag does not automatically make rentals available.
Sending the bag after golf
Many golf courses can help prepare an onward shipment, but counter hours and pickup times vary. Complete the form before the carrier's cutoff.
If the next destination is an airport, leave a generous margin before the flight and verify the exact airport terminal or collection counter.
Useful Japanese
ゴルフバッグを送れますか。 means “Can I send this golf bag?”
ゴルフバッグは届いていますか。 means “Has my golf bag arrived?”

- Course agreed to receive the bag
- Japanese course address and telephone number verified
- Reservation name, date, and tee time written on the form
- Protective cover fitted
