Why Hokkaido is different
Hokkaido is popular for cooler summer temperatures, broad landscapes, and resort golf. The golf season is limited by snow and weather, so operating dates matter more than in much of southern Japan.
Many Hokkaido courses use through play, completing 18 holes without the long clubhouse lunch break common elsewhere in Japan.
Choose the region before the course
Golf areas include Sapporo and New Chitose, Niseko, Furano, Obihiro, and the Hakodate or Onuma region. Distances are large. A course described as being in Hokkaido may still be several hours from the hotel.

Furano
Furano Golf Course has two named 18-hole courses. Seasonal operation means that both may not be available throughout the entire golf season.

Through-play and meals
Through play changes the daily schedule. Lunch may not be included in the golf plan, or it may be eaten after the round. Do not apply the standard mainland assumption that every daytime plan includes a lunch break.

Transport
A rental car is often the most practical option. Confirm driving time, tolls, parking, fuel, and winter or shoulder-season road conditions.
