Quick answer
After booking a Japanese golf course, do not only check the tee time. Read the confirmation email or booking screen for the reservation status, course name, player count, lunch condition, small-group surcharge, cancellation deadline, and payment method.
This is especially important if the page mentions 仮予約, 予約リクエスト, or 確認中.
The first thing to check: status
Look for:
- 予約確定: confirmed reservation
- 予約完了: reservation completed
- 予約番号: reservation number
- 仮予約: temporary reservation
- 予約リクエスト: reservation request
- 確認中: under confirmation
If the email says 仮予約 or 予約リクエスト, wait for a final confirmation before booking non-refundable transport.
Confirm the course name
Some golf groups operate multiple courses with similar names. A booking email may include a facility name, course name, course side, or plan name.
Check the exact Japanese course name and address before arranging taxi, rental car navigation, or club delivery.
Confirm the player count
If you are booking as two or three players, check whether the plan accepts that group size. Also check whether there is a 2B割増 or 3B割増 surcharge.
Do not assume that a course that accepts four players will automatically accept two players on every tee time.
Confirm lunch and payment
Many daytime plans include a basic lunch, but some menu items require a supplement. Early morning, twilight, through-play, and night plans may have different meal conditions.
Payment may be 現地決済, meaning pay at the course, or 事前決済, meaning prepayment. 現地決済 does not automatically mean card payment, so check the course's accepted payment methods if that matters.
Save the details offline
Before the golf day, save:
- reservation number
- course name and address
- tee time
- plan name
- number of players
- cancellation deadline
- rental club request
- club bus or shuttle information
- phone number of the course
Mobile signal is usually fine, but a screenshot is still useful at reception.
FAQ
Is a Japanese golf booking email enough proof?
Usually yes if it clearly shows 予約確定, the course name, date, start time, and reservation number. If it says 仮予約, treat it as not final yet.
What if I cannot read the email?
Translate it, but focus on the key status words first: 仮予約, 予約確定, 予約番号, キャンセル料, 昼食付き, and 割増.
Should I call the course?
If the status is unclear, calling or asking a hotel concierge can help. This matters most for two-player bookings, rental clubs, caddies, or course-hotel stays.
When should I save screenshots?
Save them as soon as the reservation is confirmed. Include the Japanese course name and plan details, not only the English translation.
