A five-day trip from Shanghai allows for two or three rounds around Tokyo. Use the arrival day to settle in, and group the courses by location to reduce daily travel.

For most visitors, the best version is two comfortable rounds or three golf-focused rounds. If you want 27 holes, build the hotel around the golf course, not the other way around.

Day-by-day route

Day 1: fly from Shanghai to Haneda or Narita. If you land around 13:00-16:00, use the day for immigration, luggage, hotel check-in, dinner, and final booking checks. Do not make this the only round of the trip. Confirm rental clubs, left or right hand, shoe size, transport, cancellation rules, and the next morning departure time.

Day 2: first round near Tokyo, Chiba, Narita, Saitama, or west Tokyo. Leave the hotel around 6:30-7:00 for a 9:00-10:30 tee time. This is usually allows more time for travel than the earliest slot. Finish around 15:00-16:30, then return to Tokyo or move toward the next golf area.

Day 3: second round or 27 holes. If the course allows an extra nine, start early, often around 6:00-7:30. Confirm the additional half round before you travel. Also check lunch timing, daylight, bath hours, shuttle hours, and whether the extra nine is charged separately.

Day 4: third round in the same direction. This can be another Chiba/Narita course, a west Tokyo or Saitama course, or a course near the resort hotel you stayed at the night before. Avoid crossing Tokyo to chase a completely different course.

Day 5: departure day. If the flight is late, use the morning for a practice range, golf shopping, or a very close nine-hole option. A full 18 holes on departure day only makes sense if the course is close to the airport and transport is confirmed.

Route options

Narita and Chiba are convenient if the flight uses Narita or if you want the final golf day closer to the airport. This route can work with rental car, train plus taxi, or a hotel near Narita or Chiba.

Haneda plus west Tokyo, Saitama, Hakone, or Mt. Fuji can work when the hotel is in Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, Shinagawa, or on a route with simple car access. Ginza is pleasant for food and shopping, but it can add one more morning transfer before the golf journey starts.

A course hotel or golf-area hotel is the easiest way to make three rounds feel normal. The second morning becomes a short local move instead of another long transfer from central Tokyo.

Budget frame

For planning, a visitor can roughly allow ¥12,000-¥25,000 per person per normal round around Tokyo before premium courses, weekend pricing, rentals, and transport. Rental clubs, lunch upgrades, locker fees, utilization tax, twosome or threesome surcharges, tolls, fuel, taxis, and practice balls can change the total.

If the group uses a rental car, compare the total car cost against train, taxi, and shuttle plans for the whole group, not per person only.

Should arrival day include golf?
