Japanese golf dress code is not only about what you wear during the round. Some courses care about arrival clothing inside the clubhouse. Traditional clubs may prefer a jacket, collared shirt, tidy trousers, and neat shoes when you enter the building.

Resort and public courses are often more relaxed, but beachwear, sandals, gym clothes, and overly casual outfits are still risky choices.

On-course clothing

For the round itself, the safest choice is a collared golf shirt, golf trousers or appropriate golf shorts, golf shoes, and weather-appropriate layers. In summer, bring sun protection and a towel. In winter or mountain areas, bring a warmer layer even if the city feels mild.

Shoes and rental shoes
